"Iran does not need China, Russia for inverse engineering, says MP" (ISNA-Iran)

I'm surprised they admit to any interest in reverse-engineering the drone. Why do they need US technology?
-The Head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the country does not need China and Russia for inverse engineering's technology.

As to the rumors on handing the U.S. spy drone to Russia and China for inverse engineering, Boroujerdi said, “As it was announced we are amongst the rare countries and even the second one capable of producing drone and even we ourselves can best make use of the U.S. new technology.”

He said Iran has gained power in this regard after the end of the imposed war.

As to the probable exchange of the drone with Russia for receiving S-300 missile system, he stressed, “Russians are indebted to us on the issue of S-300. They have not fulfilled their promises based on an official agreement, now they should either act based on the contents of the agreement or pay for its losses.”

He noted, “Aggression against Iran’s air space violates the international convention, though Iran has succeeded in confronting the air space violation.”

Boroujerdi stressed, “The U.S. should bear all the consequences of its spy drone violation of Iran’s air space and it should know that Iran definitely would not return the drone.”
According to another ISNA headline: "Iran designs several models of drones":
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Saturday the country has designed several models of drones.

He added, "Iranian armed forces have managed to make progress in designing unmanned crafts. Iran has designed drones with high power, preciseness and detection capabilities and the drones are being developed inside the country."

Also regarding threats against Iran, Vahidi said, "Threats on aggression against Iranian border by the US and Zionist regime is rooted in weakness of international organizations which were created and controlled by them." [...]
Such as the UN?
